Andrew Minton

Group Account Director

Transperfect

Soon after Xiaofu joined my team he showcased his talents to dissect and analyze processes to successfully identify areas for improvement, and then crafted solutions for increased efficiencies. While persistent in pursuing his goals, Xiaofu was thoughtful and diplomatic when working with others, whether with clients or colleagues, facilitating a truly collaborative environment. Xiaofu is a team player who understands the big picture and knows how to get things done. He has a bright future in Localization and any company would be better for having someone possessing his expertise and ambition.

Some recommendations were written under my previous English name and refer to the same person.

Cristina Lemus

Vice President, Client Operations

Pixelogic Media

Rick has been a great team member to have on our Client Ops team, and at Pixelogic. He quickly became one of the strongest Coordinators on the team, proactive taking the lead on some Localization process and workflow initiatives, training other team members and always working independently and efficiently! I would recommend Rick to anyone looking for a strong Localization team member!

Daniel Martinez

Project Manager

Pixelogic Media

Rick has assisted me with managing localization projects since Aug. 2020. From the start, he was eager to get involved and help out in any way possible. He has been a great addition to our team. Rick has a strong background in localization and an eye for detail. He learns very quickly and is able to understand complex workflows with ease. Rick also has a talent for creating detailed workflow charts, which he shared with teammates. Additionally, Rick is a natural problem solver; he is proactive and always looks for the most efficient way to get the job done. He is very organized and is great at working independently. He also knows when to ask for help and enjoys working with a team. I recommend Rick for any positions related to localization project management.

Xiaofu 'Rick' Dong is a graduate of the Translation and Localization Management program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS), where I teach. Not only was Xiaofu a student in many of my classes, he was also a Graduate Research Assistant on the Localization Manager Core Competencies (LMCC) research study that we're conducting at MIIS. Xiaofu was such a pleasure to work with as a GRA. He took a great deal of initiative on the LMCC project and executed to get things done without needing a lot of additional instruction. I routinely gave Xiaofu outcomes that needed to be achieved, and he was able to independently identify the steps to take to reach those outcomes without needing to be provided with step-by-step instructions to follow, which made my job so much easier. Throughout our project, Xiaofu's ability to execute was greatly strengthened by his analytical and technical skills. In terms of analytics, Xiaofu conducted the analysis of our LMCC 2019 Survey results. In his analysis he identified how the particular role one holds in the localization industry seemed to impact the perception on what competencies a localization manager needs to have. I presented his analysis as part of a presentation I gave on the LMCC project at the 60th Annual Conference of the American Translators Association. The presentation and the research were both very well received by the audience there. Additionally, Xiaofu carried out a great deal of evangelization for our project, using his technical skills to create posters, troubleshoot administrative processing issues, and otherwise support the project in any way he could. Xiaofu, thank you for lending your positive attitude, creativity, and drive to the LMCC project! I look forward to seeing you progress in your career. Any employer who has the pleasure of having you on their team should count themselves very lucky!

I asked Rick to be my TA in the translation technology courses because of his hard work, persistence, follow-through, and problem-solving abilities. He performed excellently and was a great help to students. The localization team that hires him will be very glad they did!
